Biography

Hello everyone, my name is Rod Stout.  I am beginning my 28th year as an educator.  After graduating from Western Montana College in 1996 with a B.S. in Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies Broadfield and minor in English, I started my career teaching in Whitehall, Montana.  I then moved to Gooding, Idaho, where I taught at the high school for 8 years.  After my wife and I had our first child, we decided it was time to move back to Montana to be closer to family.  I was fortunate to get a teaching position in Sheridan where I am beginning my 17th year.  At the end of my 3rd year in Sheridan, I was approached to step into the 7-12 Principal position.  In pursuing this position, I completed my graduate education in 2013 earning my M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Montana State University.  After 3 years as the 7-12 Principal, I moved into the K-6 Principal position at Sheridan Elementary–the BEST elementary school in Montana!  Most recently, beginning July 1st, I will also wear the hat of Superintendent for Sheridan Schools along with continuing as the K-6 Principal.  I truly love having the opportunity to work with the superb staff, students, community and parents who make up our close-knit community.

On a more personal note, I am married to Tana and have two children–Tristan who is a Senior and Addison who is a Freshman.  I cherish spending quality time with my family in our “down” time from school and work.  I love the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping with my family.  I also really enjoy spending “quiet” time in my garage working on my Jeep and Firebird.
